I’ve been back in the studio these days, recording some new tunes that will soon appear right here! So be sure to look for a free download in the near future. And in the not that near, but not that distant future, get ready for my new CD, “Lisa Lauren Loves the Beatles”. Yup, by popular demand (and repetitive suggestion), I will be putting out a compilation of Beatles tunes, some previously recorded, some new.

One of the new tracks, “Love Me Do”, will feature the blistering guitar and vocals of the amazing Willy Porter. The track has already been featured on WVOD in North Carolina, as well as Beatles shows on WXRT in Chicago and KQMT in Denver. (Willy is coming out with a new CD this summer - check out www.willyporter.com for details)

If you didn’t hear my interview on Chicago Public Radio last year, it’s in the archives at
www.wbez.org, March 3, 2005 on Eight Forty Eight.

New CD Released
Yes, indeed, the new CD has finally been released! ! "it is what it is" features David Sanborn, Fareed Haque, Neal Alger, Steve Rodby and Greg Koch as well as a myriad of other world class Chicago musicians.

Back again with a mix of originals and covers, the CD includes four Beatles covers, two of which have already been played on WXRT's "Breakfast With the Beatles" (91.3 FM or streaming audio at www.wxrt.com) This great show hosted by the one and only Terri Hemmert, every Sunday from 9-11 a.m. is highly recommended.

Jonathan Widran of JazzIz Magazine and the All Music Guide has this to say about the new disc:

"On her marvelously eclectic indie release, "it is what it is", singer/songwriter Lisa Lauren brings a fresh hybrid of roots rock, folk, pop and jazz sensiblities to a mix of wistfully romantic originals, trippy arrangements of offbeat Beatles tunes and several other appealing covers. While her solid songwriting makes one long for a bit more of her own material, Lauren's clever takes on "The Word" (featuring special guest David Sanborn) and the all-instrumental, swamp-jazz flavored "Eleanor Rigby" are the compelling highlights."
